About Our Soil
It all began back in 1975, when collecting cactus had become a new hobby for Bill Poot. He had done research over the years to come up with a soil blend, perfectly suited for the plants in his ever-growing collection. Meanwhile, he had been using perlite for his potted plants and was not completely satisfied, he also knew regular potting soil wouldn’t do the job. In 2007, Bill had expressed the desire to create his very own, unique soil blend, to a local supplier. He wanted lava rock, pumice, and other organic ingredients in his special blend, and eventually it became just that. The supplier put everything together, and that’s when Poot’s Special Soil was born.

You can also find our Special Soil Blend in our store in the plain white, 1 cubic foot (40lb) bags, for $15.
We have an alternative option of smaller, 8lb bags, if customers desire a lesser quantity of Soil for $5.
We also carry large and small bags of Pumice. Pricing available in store.
